History & Lore
Added to the active duty pool in 2021, Ancient replaced Train as part of a jungle-themed overhaul. Created from scratch for CS:GO, it carried into CS2 as one of the newest competitive maps.

CT side: hold mid with utility, anchor B temple with shotgun. T side: smoke donut and execute A, or stack house + ramp for B.
Competitive History on Ancient
Ancient was added to active duty in 2021 replacing Train. NAVI won the PGL Stockholm Major 2021 final playing Ancient with s1mple's standout performance. The map has become a cornerstone of the CS2 Majors era, featured in numerous Blast Premier and IEM grand finals.
Ancient CS2 Meta Notes
Source 2 Ancient has improved foliage rendering and clearer sight lines through the jungle canopy. A-site donut smoke lineups now require slightly adjusted positioning. The CT mid-to-B rotation corridor has marginally better sound cues.
Ancient Economy & Buy Rounds
T side: Force mid control early rounds; donut takes work on full-utility rounds only. CT side: anchor ramp + house with shotguns on pistol and anti-eco rounds.
